I Promise...

"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always.
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be."
- Robert Munsch

I read a post on lisajobaker.com called Daughter, you can take this one to the bank. I was inspired to make my own promises. Promises that sometimes might be broken, but with all my will power, I will fight to keep. So my dear, little Noah-Bear, even in this world of doubt, you can rely on this:

I will always be there. Every hockey game, school play, every spelling bee and math-a-thon, every dance recital, every art show, I will always be there.

When you skin your knees because you fell off your bike, when you break your arm doing flips off the trampoline, I will pick you up, and comfort you.

When your heart breaks for the first time, and the second, and the third, and the twentieth, I will be there.

When you get married, when you have your first kid, when you have your first grand-kid, I will beam with pride, and love. I will share those moments with you.

When you ace your first test, when you get your first F, I will let you know how proud I am in your effort, not your success or failure.

When you graduate from preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, college, I will cheer you on.

When you change your major again, and again. When you decide you want to be a dancer, a painter, a writer, when you decide you want to be a marine biologist, I will support your passions, I will always be there.

When you cry, leaning over the edge of the crib, straining for mommie to just pick you up, I will always come for you.

When you're sick, when you're happy, when you're hurt and upset. When the sun is shining, and the birds are singing, when the days are cloudy, and storms are raging. I will always, no matter what, be here for you, my little bear.

I love you.
